• Garmin.Position.gpx – Letzte bekannte Position (versteckt).
• Garminfs_image.ver – Systemdatei (versteckt).
• GarminGarminDevice.xml – enthält neben Geräteinfos, eine Übersicht der dem Gerät bekannten Dateien.
• GarminGarmintriangletm.ico – Garmin-Icon, wird neben dem Laufwerksbuchstaben angezeigt.
• Garmingeocache_visits.txt – Datum, Uhrzeit und Kommentar zu gefundenen Geocaches (wird erzeugt).
• Garmingmapbmap.img – vorinstallierte Karte.
• Garmingmapbmap.sum – Schlüsseldatei für die vorinstallierte Karte.
• Garmingmapprom.img – vorinstallierte Topographische Karte (nur Oregon T Geräte).
• Garmingmapsupp.img – selbst installierte Karte (wird erzeugt).

• Garminsystem.xml – Enthält Infos zum System und aufgetretenen Fehlern.
• GarminExtData – enthält teile der Software. Hierhin kopiert der WebUpdater neue Softwareupdates zum installieren.
• GarminGPX – enthält .gpx-Dateien mit Geocache-Beschreibungen und gespeicherte Tracks (wird erzeugt).
• GarminGPXCurrent – enthält den in aufzeichnung befindenden Track (wird erzeugt).
• GarminGPXTemp – leer.
• Garminpoi – enthält Points of Interest als .gpi-Dateien (wird erzeugt).
• GarminProfiles – Profile als .gpf-Dateien und Hintergründe als .jpg-Dateien.
• Garminscrn – hier werden Screenshots in .bmp-Format abgespeichert (wird erzeugt).
• GarminText – Übersetzungen für das Gerät, sind XML-Dateien.
• WherigoWherigo Tutorial.gwc – Anleitung für Wherigo-Spiele, die Spiel Cardrige sind ebenfalls als .gwc-Dateien gespeichert.
• WherigoWherigo.ver – Systemdatei.
• WherigoLogs – .log-Datei zum Spielverlauf (wird erzeugt).
• WherigoSaves – gespeicherte Spielstände (wird erzeugt).

How to use different „keys“  for enhanced systeminformation:

• Touchscreen calibration – Turn Montana on and hold power key for 30 sec
• Compass calibration – click on compass on the compass page for 5 seconds
• Diagnosticpage – on sat-screen press on the top left corner for 5 seconds
• Errorlog & memorycheck – on tripcomputerpage on the right bottom corner press for 5 seconds
• Master Reset – power on and hold on top left corner
• force USB-connection – plug usb-cable and hold power key for 30 secs (mayday,SOS,rescue, hilfe, help)

• Im Hauptmenü 2 Sekunden lange auf ein Icon klicken und man kommt automatisch in den Konfigurationsmodus für die Hauptseite
• in einem Untermenü lange auf die Taste  „X“ oder „zurück“ (gebogener Pfeil) drücken und man kommt automatisch ins Hauptmenü

• force USB-connection – plug usb-cable and hold power key for 30 secs (mayday,SOS,rescue, hilfe, help)
• Alle entsprechenden Files (Bilder bzw. Karten,… – je nachdem) vom internen Speicher und der Karte entfernen.
• neu booten und es sollte klappen
• danach die Dateien wieder entsprechend (einzeln) rüberspielen um das korrupte File zu erkennen.

Forced USB Mass Storage Mode

1. Remove all batteries from your Montana
2. Connect the Montana to your computer with a USB cable
3. As the Montana powers up and begins the boot process, immediately press and hold the power button without disconnecting the USB cable until the Montana powers down
4. Press and Hold the power button for 30 seconds, or until the USB symbol appears on the Montana display
5. The Montana will be in USB Mass Storage Mode
6. Remove or rename any recently added maps, images, gpx or other files that may be causing the issue
7. Disconnect the Montana from the USB cable
8. Install previously removed battery or batteries and power up the Montana
9. Repeat Steps 1-8 as needed until the Montana boots properly

Forced RGN Firmware Installation

• Create a new directory on your computer hard drive C:\RGN
• Download RGN_Tool.exe to C:\RGN
• Download Updater.exe to C:\RGN

1. Download and extract the desired gcd file from the Firmware page to C:\RGN
2. Rename the gcd file gupdate.gcd
3. Run C:\RGN\RGN_Tool.exe
4. Drag the gupdate.gcd file to the RGN_Tool window
5. In the RGN_Tool window, select File | Save to RGN and save as C:\RGN\gupdate.rgn
6. Close the RGN_Tool
7. Delete the gupdate.gcd file

1. Download and extract the desired rgn file from the firmware page to C:\RGN
2. Rename the rgn file gupdate.rgn

1. Remove all batteries from your Montana
2. Connect the Montana to your computer with a USB cable
3. As the Montana powers up and begins the boot process, immediately press and hold the power button without disconnecting the USB cable
4. Press [Enter] on your computer to execute the command typed above
5. When the Updater prompts you, select the USB radio button
6. When the „Loader“ banner appears on the Montana screen, release the power button
7. The Montana should display „Software Loader“ and Updater should show a download progress bar
8. The Montana may go through several update/restart cycles
9. The Updater will display a success message and the Montana will restart running the new firmware
